Irish Coffee

Save For Later

My Irish coffee is boozy, smooth, and topped with Bailey's whipped cream that will float NOT sink. It only requires 5 ingredients and no fancy equipment. Serve with Guinness Cupcakes, Bailey's Cheesecake, and Irish Nachos to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in style.

There’s something comforting about a drink that’s both warm and boozy. This easy Irish Coffee fits the bill. It's great to sip while reading a book on the couch but elevated enough to serve after a dinner party too.

 Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips

  • Coffee: Use strong, freshly brewed hot coffee. I suggest a dark roast that can hold its own with the other ingredients. I used Starbucks Sumatra.
  • Irish Whiskey: Jameson is the best coffee to use hands down. Bushmill will do in a pinch.
  • Brown Sugar: Don't skip this even if you don't usually sweeten your coffee. It raises the density of the coffee to help the whipped cream float not sink.
  • Heavy Cream: Use ice cold to help it whip faster.

Bartender Trick

Mix whipped cream and Bailey's in a cocktail shaker. This gives it the perfect texture that will float not sink.

On the point - it’s 6pm I’ve finished with all the work for the day, time to sit and relax. If the day was too long and too tough some take a glass of of wine, a cup of tea…. not me I indulge a cup of Irish coffee and mix it up with the strongest coffee in Australia ..strong enough to keep me going through the rest of the day...Great post!
