The Basics: My name is Krystle, and I'm in my early 30s.
I've been cooking since I was old enough to hop up on a stool. My grandma, who was known for her cakes and cookies, taught me the art of cooking and baking.
I've been a professional recipe developer since 2011 (nearly 14 years!!) and I have a passion for comfort food.
I’m formally trained through Rouxbe’s Culinary School earning their rigorous Professional Cook Certification. This professional program included 200 hours of coursework and 65 practical evaluations. I don’t just test recipes, I've been tested too!

I live in a small town in PA. By day I work in the digital advertising industry for Gourmet Ads.
We've been blessed to be featured in major publications such as MSN, USA Today, Parade, Buzzfeed, Country Living, Redbook, NBC Miami, Escoffier Culinary School, Delish, and many more!
Why I started my blog: The women in my family have always kept written journals of important events, holiday meals, etc. It seemed natural for me to take over, in a digital format!
My Philosophy: I HATE watching cooking shows where cooks use expensive mixers, fancy blenders, and 1,001 tools I don’t have. I only use ingredients my small-town grocery store has in stock. I also don't have a counter full of fancy equipment. firmly believe the best tools you have are your two hands and a little elbow grease!
Our Recipe Testing Process
- I develop recipes in my home test kitchen. My house is a 1905 Victoria that was a former duplex which means two kitchens for me! I use ingredients the average home cook has access to. There is never any AI or outsourcing.
- All recipes are tested at least twice, sometimes more! Groceries are expensive these days, and your time is valuable. You can trust our recipes to work the first time.
- Recipe updates: We update recipes at least once a year to ensure that ingredients are still available and that all tips are still best practices.
- We add helpful tips and tricks that come from our years of cooking experience.

3. I’m related to Willie Smith, who helped Drake dig the 1st oil well in the USA.
4. I’m a mom to a 1-year-old cavalier named Toffee.
5. I’m obsessed with Christmas and put up 12+ trees every year.
