The Bahama Mama combines bright, fruity flavors with ultra-smooth rum. Quench your thirst with this easy drink, and you'll be whisked away to paradise.

I love fruity cocktails like the Bahama Mama. They're a summer staple in our house alongside classics like the Hurricane, Strawberry Daiquiris, and, of course, the amaretto sour. They are fruity, refreshing, and go down easy.

Imagine coming home after a long day's work and having this beauty waiting? One sip and all the stresses of the day just melt away. It is perfect for backyard BBQ while grilling burgers or girls night in.

pineapple juice, rum, orange juice, and grenadine on a wooden tabletop.

Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips

  • Orange Juice: Store-bought or freshly squeezed both work. We prefer no pulp.
  • Dark Rum: Dark rum is aged longer and has a richer flavor. I like Cruzan or Bacardi. Plantation is good too but it's a bit of a splurge. Use leftovers in my Hurricane drink or our mai tai.
  • Coconut Rum: If you don't like coconut Pineapple rum would be a good substitute. l like Malibu and Captain Morgan. Leftovers go great in my Pina Coladas, Blue Hawaiis, and Hippie juice.
  • Lime Juice: Use freshly squeezed lime juice if possible for the best flavor.
  • Grenadine: Grenadine adds a gorgeous red color and sweet pomegranate flavor. I used store-bought, but homemade would be yummy too. Leftover grenadine? Use it up with my tequila sunrise or Shirley Temple recipes.
