This strawberry daiquiri is frosty, sweet, and refreshing. It requires only 3 ingredients, and couldn’t be easy to make. This easy summer cocktail tastes like an adult slushie.
Sometimes, the simplest recipes are the best recipes. I love easy summer drinks like the Bahama Mama and the Blue Hawaiian, and of course, this frozen strawberry daiquiri. This recipe requires only 3 ingredients, and less than 10 minutes to make. This makes it perfect for lazy summer days, or the casual cocktail crafter.
The step that takes the longest is hulling your strawberries. However, you can use frozen or precut strawberries to make prep even faster. Frozen strawberries also go great in Mimosas.
Make one for yourself or a large batch for a party. This cocktail recipe is always a crowd-pleaser, especially on a hot day. Frozen drinks make me think of lazy summer days enjoying a good book or eating dinner on the patio. The gorgeous red color of this drink makes it perfect for patriotic holidays like Memorial Day or the 4th of July too.
This drink originated in Cuba on a beach named Daiquiri and was brought to the United States by a Navy Admiral. Popularity increased during World War II when whiskey was rationed, but rum was easy to come by.
Why I Love This Cocktail
- Limited Ingredients: Requires only 3 ingredients
- Easy: Ready in minutes.
- No fancy equipment required: A basic blender will work just fine.
- Sweet: These go down easy, you can barely taste the alcohol.
Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips
- Rum: I suggest using a midlevel white rum. It is aged for a shorter period of time and tends to have a milder flavor. For this recipe, I used Bacardi. Captain Morgan is also great! If you’re not a fan of rum, you could use vodka instead.
- Strawberries: Fresh strawberries bring the best flavor to this recipe. Take advantage of them when they’re in season in late spring/early summer. If you don’t have access to fresh berries, frozen will work fine too. Since this is a frosty frozen drink you won’t even need to thaw them! Be sure to save a couple of berries for garnish.
- Lime Juice: Use fresh lime juice for the perfect flavor! I find it has more flavor and less acid than the little green bottles.
How To Make Strawberry Daiquiris
The strawberries, rum, and lime juice get tossed in the blender. Then add ice a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
Fun Variations
- Muddled: Forget the blender. Muddle, shake in a cocktail shaker, and strain instead.
- Hemingway Daiquiri: Use grapefruit juice and maraschino liqueur
- Banana Daiquiri: Use bananas instead of strawberries
- Chocolate Daiquiri: Add chocolate liquor
- Raspberry Daiquiri
Tips and Tricks
- Consistency: If you want a thicker drink use less ice. If you prefer a more “slushy” cocktail you may end up needing the whole 2 cups of ice.
- Juice Limes: Microwave your lime and roll it on the counter to get the most juice possible.
- Nonalcoholic: Make a nonalcoholic version with strawberries and lime juice. If too tart, add a little white sugar.
