The Bob Marley cocktail has three different fruity flavors. This layered drink tastes like the best adult slushie ever!
I love relaxing outside in the summer with an ice-cold fruity drink. Some of my favorites are strawberry daiquiris and Bahama mamas. This Bob Marley drink is my new favorite. It is perfect for picnics and pool parties.
Why I Love This Drink
- Fruity Flavors: Strawberries, pineapple, and melon taste like summer in a glass.
- Stunning Presentation: The three layers make a beautiful presentation
- Slushy Consistency: It reminds me of drinking slushies as a kid in the summer.
History
This cocktail is named after Bob Marley (1945-1981) ,a famous Jamaican reggae musician. It was created in the 1960s and features the same colors as the Rastafarian flag.
Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips
- Rum: I prefer to use white rum which is light and slightly sweet. Bacardi is my go-to brand. Avoid dark rum which can be too spicy and overpowering for a fruity cocktail.
- Grenadine: Grenadine is a non alcoholic cocktail syrup. Originally made with pomegranates it has a tart and sweet flavor. Despite its red coloring it does not have a cherry flavor.
- Midori: Midori (Japanese for green) is a bright green liqueur.
- Flavor: It is fruity and sweet with notes of honeydew.
- Location: Look for it in near the cordials or schnapps.
- Uses: Try it in a midori sour next.
- Strawberries: Fresh or frozen will work well. Freeze your own fruit for fresh fruit flavor and the perfect texture.
- Pineapple: Avoid canned pineapple if possible which may be too sweet.
- Lime: Use freshly squeezed if possible.
- Simple Syrup: This is just equal parts sugar and water. It is easy enough to make yourself, or you can buy it near the cocktail mixers.
- Ice: Use crushed ice if you have it as it blends easier and gives the drink a fluffier texture.
How to Make a Bob Marley Drink
- Combine all the ingredients for the first layer in a blender. Pulse until smooth.
- Repeat with remaining layers.
- Garnish with a cherry and enjoy responsibly.
How To Strong Is This Drink?
This drink is weak in strength and is equal to about one standard drink. However, be careful they’re so delicious you may want more than one which can really add up.
Tips
- Shortcut: Use strawberry daiquiri mix.
- Mix It Up: Other fruits such as peaches, mangoes, or bananas could add different flavors and colors to the drink.
- Adjust Ice: Add more ice for a slushier drink and less for a thinner drink.
- Use Cold Ingredients: Ensure all ingredients are cold to help them blend and come together to form the perfect texture.
