I love peanut butter and chocolate desserts. Some of my favorites at my famous Reese's Cake, Buckeye Cookies, and chocolate peanut butter cupcakes. My newest favorite are these peanut butter mousse jars. They don't require turning on the oven and look way harder to make than they are.

Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips

ingredients including peanut butter, oreos, heavy cream, powdered sugar, cream cheese, chocolate, and Reese's cups.
  • Cream Cheese: Use brick style full fat cream cheese. Avoid the already whipped kinds in the tub as they have too much air and water in them already. Soften for 30-60 minutes at room temperature to prevent lumps. Short on time? Dunk the foil packet in warm, not hot water for a few minutes.
  • Heavy Cream: Use heavy cream (at least 37% fat). This will whip up easier and be more stable.
  • Oreos: I suggest regular not double stuf. The extra cream can make them clumpy. You an use a food processor or a biggie with a rolling pin to crush them. You could use other cookies too such as chocolate wafers or even graham cracker crumbs. Peanut butter Oreos would be a yummy twist!
  • Peanut Butter: I like Jif. Avoid natural peanut butter which tends to be runnier and can separate.

Krystle's Tips: Steal My Culinary School Secrets

  1. Chill your bowl and beaters to help with cream whip up quicker.
  2. Wipe the Inside of the Glass: Do this between each layer for a professional presentation.
  3. Freeze It: Freeze for 2-3 hours for a semifreddo like texture.
Can I Use Cool Whip Instead?

Yes! Around 1.5-2 cups of Cool Whip can be used in place of the whipped cream if you'd like. It will be sweeter and less rich though.
