I love making sweet dessert dips with fun flavors like Smores, cannoli, and cookie dough. This Funfetti Dip is perfect when you are craving something sweet. It reminds me of the Dunkaroo dip I loved so much in my lunchbox as a child. It is super easy to make because we start with just a few simple ingredients. Kids and adults alike will love this! It is perfect for birthday parties, potlucks, and after-school snacks. If you love sneaking bites of cake batter this is for you.

The bowl is always empty at the end of my parties, so consider doubling the recipe!

Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips

ingredients including funfetti cake mix, vanilla yogurt, cool whip, and rainbow sprinkles.

  • Funfetti Cake Mix: You can also use a different flavor cake mix. Chocolate would be super yummy.
    • If using yellow or white cake mix, add sprinkles and ½ teaspoon of cake batter extract for that classic flavor.
  • Vanilla Yogurt: Use full-fat yogurt for the best texture. Avoid Greek yogurt, which is tangier and too thick for this recipe.
  • Cool Whip: I used extra creamy. Thaw overnight in the fridge.
    • You can also thaw it in cold water if you're short on time. Avoid microwaving, which can cause it to separate.
  • Rainbow Sprinkles: Mix them up depending on the holiday. I.e., red and green for Christmas or black and orange for Halloween.

❓FAQS❓

Can You Make It Ahead?

Yes, it actually tastes best his way. It's perfect when made the night before and gives you one less thing to worry about on party day. Make up to 2 days in advance.

What Should I Use For Dipping?

I like to use animal crackers, graham crackers, Oreos, Teddy Grahams, or vanilla wafers. If you like a salty-sweet combo, pretzels would also be delicious. You could also use fruit like grape or strawberries if you wanted.

Is It Safe To Eat Raw Cake Mix?

No, it contains raw flour, which can contain bacteria.
Toast your flour first:

Microwave: Cook cake mix in the microwave for 30 seconds until it reaches 165 degrees F.

Bake: Bake at 350 degrees for 5-7 minutes.

Tips

  1. Fold ingredients using a rubber spatula to avoid deflating the Cool Whip. This will keep the dip light and airy.
  2. Allow to sit in the fridge for a few hours to allow the flowers to meld together.
  3. Add the sprinkles right before serving so the colors don't bleed.
