Smores Dip

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Gooey marshmallow and smooth milk chocolate make this Smores dip taste just like my favorite campfire treat. This easy recipe is perfect for camping, movie nights, and after-school snacks. a graham cracker loaded with smores dip with a skillet topped with marshmallows in the background.
Growing up I was that weird kid. You know the one. I had to go inside and microwave my hot dog or marshmallow instead of roasting it to a crisp over the campfire. So this indoor Smores dip is just perfect for me.

Have you ever made a Smore in the microwave? When you place the second graham cracker on top, the filling often oozes out onto the plate. I always try my best to scoop this up with my graham crackers. I’m not about to let chocolate go to waste! This gave me the idea to make a Smores Dip. As we welcome Fall tomorrow, let’s enjoy one last taste of summer!

This dish takes less than ten minutes to make and can easily be doubled for larger parties. Try it out today! Love Smores? Also, try our Smores Pie and Smores cheesecake.

Why I Love This Dip

  1. Perfect marshmallows every time: No charred or raw marshmallows. They melt perfectly every time.
  2. Easy: It is impossible to mess this up, it is just that easy.
  3. Kid-Friendly: No more trying to hold a sticky Smore. Give them each their own individual (cooled off) serving and voila.

Ingredient Notes and Fun Variations

  1. Mix Up the Chocolate: Use Hershey’s Bars, Reese’s Cups, or even dark chocolate chips.
  2. Marshmallows: You can use mini marshmallows or even fluff for a fun twist.
  3. Caramel Smores: Add butterscotch chips for a deeper caramel flavor.
  4. Add a crust: Combine graham crackers with melted butter to form a crust. Doing so will add in some extra flavor and a crunchy texture to the dip.

How To Make Smores Dip

  1. Preheat oven.
  2. Pour chocolate chips into skillet.
  3. Top with halved marshmallows.
  4. Bake for 7-9 minutes. Enjoy!

Can You Make It In the Microwave?

Yes, you can make this recipe in the microwave. However, it will not taste the same as the oven-baked version which helps brown the marshmallows. To make in the microwave cook on 50% power in one-minute intervals until melty.

How To Reheat

This dip is best served right away. However, if you have leftovers you can reheat them in a 350-degree oven for around 5 minutes.  You can also reheat in the microwave on 50% power for one-minute intervals until it is warm.

Dipping Ideas

  1. Classic: You can’t go wrong with graham crackers.
  2. Cookies: Oreos, Vanilla Wafers, Shortbread Cookies, or Mini Chips Ahoy cookies.
  3. Fruit: Sliced Apples, Strawberries, banana slices
  4. Rice Krispie Treats
  5. Cake: Pound Cake or Angel Food Cake Cubes
  6. Sweet and Salty: Ritz Crackers, Pretzels

Tips

  1. Start with a warm skillet: Put your skillet in the oven while everything is preheating to help things melt faster. Just be careful when you take it out to combine your ingredients as cast iron gets HOT.
  2. No skillet no problem! If you don’t have an oven save skillet you could also use a 9×9 casserole dish.
  3. Line Skillet: You can line your skillet with nonstick foil for easy cleanup.
  4. Cut marshmallows in half: This will stop them from puffing up and potentially exploding in your oven! The easiest way to do this is with kitchen shears sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.

Would this also work in a glass pan? Or would that end up burning the chocolate? I really want to try this, but i have no cast iron.

      Hey Megan,

Yes I feel like a glass pan would be fine as long as it’s oven safe and tall enough so it doesn’t bubble over! 🙂
