Crock Pot Garlic Butter Steak Bites
My crock pot steak bites are made with tender sirloin and covered in ranch garlic butter. This easy recipe comes together quickly with pantry ingredients, but tastes like it came from your favorite steakhouse!

I love cooking in the crock pot on days both my fiancé and I have to work. Some of our favorites are beef and egg noodles, pork chops and stuffing, and stuffed peppers. Our new go to are these slow cooker garlic butter steak bites. They're flavorful, tender, and super easy. We like to serve them over mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice.
Why Our Recipe Is the Best: a Sprinkle of Food Science
- We Sear Our Steak: This helps it develop deep meaty flavor you can't get the slow cooker alone.
- We Deglaze Our Pan: This adds all those tasty brown bits into our sauce for richer flavor.
- We Add Umami Flavors: Beef broth and Worcestershire sauce add depth of flavor that sets this apart from most bland slow cooker steak.
Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips

- Steak: I like sirloin as it has great beef flavor and is relatively cheap. You could also use round steak or flat iron.
- Oil: Pick a neutral flavored oil with a high smoke point. I used vegetable oil. Canola or avocado also work great

Krystle's Tips: Steal My Culinary School Secrets
- Cut Evenly: Make sure you cut into similar size pieces so you don't end up with some that are overcooked and others that are underdone.
- Cut Against The Grain: Look for which direction the muscle fibers are running. Cut across them not with them. This shortens the fibers for more tender meat.
- Pat Dry: Pat steak dry with paper towels before searing. Excess moisture can prevent you from getting a good crust.
- Don't Overcrowd The Pan: If the pan is too crowded the meat could steam instead of sear. Cook in 2 batches if needed.
I personally wouldn't as frozen steak releases too much water and doesn't sear well. Thaw overnight in the fridge first.
Make a cornstarch slurry of 2 teaspoons cornstarch dissolved in 2 teaspoons of water. Stir into sauce during the last 5-10 minutes of cooking.
