Miami Vice Drink

Save For Later

Juicy strawberries and tangy pineapple come together in this easy Miami Vice cocktail.  Why choose one drink when you can have two in one glass?

The Miami Vice is a frozen drink that is part strawberry daiquiri and part pina colada. You get the sweet taste of juicy strawberries, the tang of pineapple, and the creaminess of coconut. No premade mixes here we make this from scratch for the best flavor. We love serving it at BBQs and pool parties.

Its red and white colors also make it great for patriotic holidays like the 4th of July or Canada Day. It looks impressive but is actually super easy to make. We'll use the same swirling technique we use in my Sangria Margarita.

Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips

ingredients including rum, strawberries, lime, cream of coconut, and pineapple.
  • Rum: Use white rum which is clear with a mild sweet flavor. I like Bacardi.
  • Cream of Coconut: It has a sweet flavor and a creamy texture. Look for this in the mixer aisle near the tonic water. Make sure to use cream of coconut, NOT coconut cream, which is unsweetened and best used in savory dishes like curry.
  • Strawberries: You can also use frozen strawberries. Since they add iciness you may need to slightly decrease the ice in that layer.
  • Lime Juice: For the best flavor, use freshly squeezed juice if possible.
    • To get the most juice from your lime, roll it on the counter and microwave for 20-30 seconds.

Fun Strawberry Hack:

Easily hull strawberries by pressing a straw through the bottom of the fruit. You'll easily remove the center pith and the great leafy top in one go!

️Krystle's Tips️

  1. Get the Slushie Perfect Texture: If using frozen strawberries, use less ice to avoid a watery drink.
  2. Layering Hack: Pour the second layer over the back of a spoon. This helps slow down the liquid and allows it to spread out without mixing the layers too much.
  3. Serve in a tall glass. A hurricane-style glass would work, too.

Store your glass in the freezer while you blend the second half to keep it icy cold.
