Chef Ramsay's chicken pot pie with peas, carrots, and a puff pastry crust.

The Filling

This is the best frozen chicken pot pie I've ever had. The chicken is tender and flavorful and well coated in a thick and creamy sauce. It has the taste and texture of real white meat chicken, unlike what you can sometimes get in frozen dinners.

It does tend to be a bit salty, which wasn't a problem for us. But keep this in mind if you have a different palate.

The veggies are tender, and the mushrooms add savoriness. I like that there are no potatoes. Frozen pot pies with potatoes tend to end up being hard and bland.

I appreciate the good amount of chicken, especially at this price point. You get some in every forkful.

The Crust

We loved the flaky buttery crust. It is like a sheet of puff pastry was just laid on top; there is no fluted pie crust. However, be aware that crust is only on the top, not the bottom. Does this make it not "really" a pot pie? Maybe, but we still like this better than other double-crusted ones on the market.

Pro Tip

Cook in the oven for best results. The package contains directions for both. We know this isn't always possible if you take it to work, but when you have the choice, choose the oven!

  1. I have always idolized Gordon Ramsay, and all of his shows. I took my husband to Vegas one year for his birthday and we ate at Gordon Ramsay‘s steakhouse. Expensive but well worth it. The only thing would’ve made it better is if he happened to show up, which did not happen. When I saw these frozen dinners by him, I couldn’t wait to purchase them, because I just knew he had figured out how to make a great frozen meal I was sadly mistaken! Just tried the chicken pot pie and it was horrible. It was too salty, what happened to the taste everything, and didn’t have nearly enough product in it. Don’t even get me started on the cracker crust. I was so disappointed. It won’t keep me from thinking the most of Gordon Ramsay, but I will never eat another frozen meal of his.

Sorry it wasn't your cup of tea. Jealous I'd love to go to this resturant someday.

They say never meet your idols maybe we shouldn't eat their frozen meals either haha

chicken pot pie -had no chicken??

    1. Krystle Smith says:

Really no chicken? Did you write the company to complain?

  3. This pot pie sucked the crust was like saltine crackers, the filling was cheap and disgusting. I would not feed this pig slop to my dog.

    1. Krystle Smith says:

Wow harsh! We liked it but everyone's tastes are different.

  4. Richard Weisenborn says:

Sorry but I think Ramsey needs to step back and take a look at this product. It reminded me of cat throw up covered up with a decent crust Absolutely no taste and a horrible appearance. Chicken was shreds of slimy meat. I truthfully think someone sold Ramsey a bill of goods and that he never tasted it. My God this product made the days of four for a dollar Banquet pot pies look good

    1. Krystle Smith says:

LOL, good description you should be a food writer.

I'm racking my brain, I'm not sure there's ever been a celebrity frozen meal that was 100% good.

  5. This is one of the WORST pot pies in creation!!! No gravy!!! No amount of chicken..I counted 2 pieces..veggies almost none existent..baked in
Oven as directed..look..I’ve been eating pot pies for a long while as a quick meal..this..forget it..don’t waste your $

  6. Kathy West says:

I really wanted to like this. I am Sorely disappointed. The aroma in my kitchen was great while this was baking in the oven. The top is a barely edible thick cracker. Puff pastry ? I think not. Filling was scant, very salty sauce.

  7. Excellent filling, full of flavor. The crust, however, was terrible. Could not even cut it. Hard as a rock. May have gotten a dud, so will try again just to be fair.

    1. Krystle Smith says:

Aww bummer! Did you use the microwave or oven? Not ideal for work lunches but we prefer the oven for any frozen pot pies.

  8. Mrs. Murphy says:

    We baked this
?chicken pot pie? in the oven at the proper temperature and time.
I really expected something edible! The crust was tough on the edge, gooey in the middle, terrible tasting sauce and very little of anything under the crust.
Suggestion for you Mr Ramsey: try a Marie Callendar and change your recipe! Sorry my husband bought it, won’t happen again.

  9. The filling was good. Lots of chicken. Very salty and the crust was very hard.

  10. I had high hopes but was sadly disappointed. Salty, slightly odd flavor. The mushrooms were nice and the chicken was lean but the crust was similar to a cracker. 5/10.

  11. Jim Blanton says:

The picture in this article does not match reality. The sauce was good, but the crust reminded me of the biscuit from an old C-ration can. This is our 2nd try at this. You coud do damage to someone by throwing the crust at them. "Puff pastry" it is not.7

    1. Krystle Smith says:

      Hi Jim!

We bought our pot pie at Walmart and cooked per package directions so I'm not sure what you mean by not matching reality.

Bummer you didn't like it. I hear you mention C rations. If you were in the military thank you for your service!

  12. Cynthia Stevens says:

This is the worst pot pie I have ever had in my life. The crust was as hard as a hockey puck. It was dry, no flavor and it wasn't even half way full. I will never buy it again and probably won't try the other items he has in the stores. Do better Gordon.

  13. Debra A Stetson says:

Worst Chicken Pot Pie ever. I will not be purchasing any more of Chef Ramsey’s frozen meals.

  14. Patricia A Haskins says:

It had a nice amt. of chicken, not many veg. but a whole lot of salt. I could only eat half because of the sodium1470 mg. Won't buy it again.
