Instructions
Pour whole milk, heavy cream, white sugar, vanilla bean (or extract), and ice into a blender. Blend until smooth.
Top with whipped cream if desired.

Ingredient Notes
Milk:
Use whole milk for the creamiest drink.
Heavy Cream:
Don't leave out the cream, as it gives it a luscious, rich texture.
Vanilla:
You can use vanilla extract or vanilla beans here. Avoid imitation vanilla.
Tips
I prefer ice made from bottled or filtered water for a neutral taste. Crushed ice blends more evenly than cubes.
If your drink is thinner than you'd like, try adding a teaspoon of instant pudding mix.
Working With Vanilla Beans: Use a sharp knife to split the bean in half lengthwise. Scoop out the beans with a knife or small spoon.
