Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips
Texas Toast: Any thick sturdy bread like Italian, ciabatta, or even focaccia would be wonderful. Avoid ultra thin breads which may not hold up to our toppings.
Mozzarella Cheese: Bring to room temperature while you bake your bread to ensure even melting. Make sure to use low moisture slices not fresh mozzarella.
Pepperoni: For added texture we like to air fry or pan fry the pepperoni for a few minutes.
Pizza Sauce: My favorite is Del Grosso's Pappy Fred's pizza sauce.
Tips
No Soggy Bread Here: Spread the sauce on top of the cheese instead of directly on the bread.
Control the Heat: Cook over medium-low heat to allow the cheese to melt fully without burning the bread.
