Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips
Orange Juice:
Use freshly squeezed orange juice, if possible, for the best flavor. I like using Valencia oranges for juicing. Navel also works well.
To get the most juice out of your orange, roll it on the counter and microwave it for 20-40 seconds.
Margarita Mix
: Look for this in your grocery store near the tonic water.
Tequila
: I used Jose Cuervo's Silver Tequila. Patron is also always a good choice.
Watermelon Liqueur
: I used DeKuyper, but you can use any other fruity liquor you like.
Jalapeno
: Optional but encouraged. This adds a hint.
Remove the seeds/ribs for less heat.
Tips
No cocktail shaker?
No problem! Use a mason jar instead.
Ice
: Make ice out of margarita mix or orange juice to avoid watering down your drink.
Add sugar
: Don't like a salty rim? Use coarse sugar instead.
Chill:
Chill your glasses to keep your drinks ice cold on these hot summer days.
