5-6apples peeledcored, and sliced thin (I used Granny Smith)
½cupwhite sugar
1tablespoonground cinnamon
½cupapple cider or apple juice
1tea spoon vanilla extract
<b>Topping:</b>
1cupall purpose flour
1cupsugar
1stick cold butter
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
In a small mixing bowl, combine cinnamon and sugar.In a 9x9 inch pan dust a light layer of the cinnamon sugar mixture on the bottom.
Alternate single layers of apple slices and cinnamon sugar. Cover the final apple layer with the remaining cinnamon sugar.
Mix vanilla and apple juice. Pour over apple mixture.
Mix flour and sugar in a small bowl. Grate butter using a flat grater over this bowl. Mix together with a pastry cutter or 2 forks until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.
