Copycat Strawberries and Cream Frappuccino

Save For Later

Juicy strawberries and creamy ice cream come together in this easy copycat Starbucks Strawberries and cream Frappuccino. It is easy to make at home and costs just pennies compared to what you pay at the coffee house.

Strawberries and Cream Starbucks Copycat Recipe

If I go to Starbucks in the evening, I always choose something without caffeine like a vanilla bean frappuccino or a decaf chai tea latte. This homemade strawberry frappuccino is another favorite especially in the summer. With just a few simple ingredients and less 5 minutes you can make this ultra thick and creamy beverage in your own kitchen.

Why This Recipe Works: A Sprinkle of Food Science

  1. Thick and Smooth: Whole milk and ice cream provide a thick drink with the perfect fat to water ratio.
  2. Secret Ingredient: Xanthan gum prevents ice crystals and binds everything together so it doesn't separate.
  3. Strawberry x 2: When testing no matter how many strawberries we added the flavor was lost in the milky base. We combine fresh berries and strawberry syrup so it tastes like strawberries not milk and has a beautiful pink color.

Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips

ingredients including milk, vanilla ice cream, ice, strawberries, xanthan gum, and strawberry syrup.
  • Milk: Use whole milk for the creamiest drink. 2% also works but avoid skim. If you prefer dairy free oak milk is your best bet.
  • Vanilla Ice Cream: Use full fat ice cream straight from the freezer. You don't want it thawed or melted or your frappe may be watery. You could also use strawberry ice cream.
  • Strawberries: Look for berries that are bright red without any extra juice in the carton. You can also use frozen strawberries no need to thaw.
  • Strawberry Syrup: I used Torani. You could also make your own.
  • Xanthan Gum: This thickens and prevents separation. Optional but encouraged. Look for it near the gluten free baking items.

Krystle's Tips

  1. Taste after blending and add more syrup if needed.
  2. Too thin? Add a bit more ice cream.

This recipe is more like a smoothie if they'd add a banana. I think they need to add a splash of coffee (decaffeinated if u want?)

    1. Hi Kat,

I think it's meant to be a non-coffee drink for people or maybe kids that go there and don't want any coffee. But to each their own! Let me know if you end up trying it with coffee!

  9. Just wondering if anyone knows how it tastes WITH coffee? I would love to try it both ways.
