Spring Cleaning Tips: Forgetting Cleaning Start Healthing

Save For Later

Disclosure:I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for LYSOL®. I received a promotional item to thank me for participating.

I like to think of my home as my oasis. It’s a relaxing, rejuvenating place where I can come after a long day.

To make my home as relaxing as possible I like to
1. Make it smell nice with candles and air fresheners
2 Drown out noise with music or a white noise machine
3. Keep it clean

While I have good intentions, sometimes I let things get out of hand. Ever have visitors call to come over in a half hour and then frantically have to tidy everything up?

That’s why I was excited to hear about Lysol encouraging people to do something called “Healthing” or cleaning for health.

LYSOL says:“We know it sounds like a made up word, but what it stands for is very real”!

I love that it doesn’t focus on keeping the perfect house, something I’ve tried and failed to do.

Lysol reminds us:“We don’t just clean to things look nice,we do it to help keep our families healthy”. Instead of trying to make our house look perfect, it reminds us to focus on keeping our family happy and healthy.”

The idea of Healthing goes beyond cleaning – and looks more holistically at how a healthy home helps to keep families thriving. Overall it focuses on killing germs on frequently touched surfaces.

What Products Should I Use?:
To keep my family healthy I like to wipe down frequently touched surfaces with LYSOL Wipes. They also work great on tables and counters. I always use LYSOL Wipes after cooking with eggs/meat.

To be honest, cooking with these foods makes me nervous. Last weekend I made a breakfast roll that had to be rolled out into a large square. I did this on our kitchen table because it was the only area big enough.

About halfway through it hit me that this with 4 raw eggs was laying where my family eats dinner! After the roll was in the oven, I wiped down the table with 2 wipes. The Lysol Disinfecting Wipes have a fresh scent and kill 99.9% of germs. I felt confident the table was free of germs and literally clean enough to eat off of!

On this topic LYSOL Says:”Cleaning is Hoping you’re killing germs, healthing is knowing it!”

How can I learn more?

Want to learn more about healthing and have the chance to meet a celebrity? Lysol has teamed with with TV personality Giuliana Rancic. They’ll be visiting YMCA’s across the country to teach you how to keep your home healthy. Best of all she presents the information in fun ways that even kids can take part in.

Lysol is also providing disinfecting products to the YMCA, and donating a membership to a family in need.

Do you have any tips to help me get started?
1. Don’t let spring cleaning overwhelm you. Take it one room or even one corned at a time. Remember doing a little is better than doing nothing!

2. Start with the basics. Focus your energy on easy to reach surfaces that a guest entering your home would see. Then move onto smaller nooks and crannies.

3. Wash your hands after cleaning  to prevent the spread of germs. This is the single most important thing we all can do to help prevent getting sick.
