Smores Rice Krispie Treats

Save For Later

My S'mores Rice Krispie Treats layer a buttery graham-cracker crust, plenty of melty chocolate, and gooey marshmallow in a dessert that is ready in just 15 minutes. This decadent dessert mashup tastes even better than the original.

a graham cracker crust filled with a rice krispie treat and topped with chocolate and marshmallows.

I love Smores flavored treats like my Smores Cheesecake, Smores Dip, and of course my no bake Smores pie. These Smores Rice Krispie Treats are in a decadent category all their own. They are crunchy, chewy, and full of melty chocolate.

I came up with these when I was craving s'mores in February with no fire pit or camping trip in sight. Whether you need a bake-sale winner to one up the other moms, or a last-minute dessert that looks like you planned it all along you need to try these. Best of all, no campfire cleanup and no burnt marshmallows falling into the flames. You'll get perfectly toasted, golden-brown marshmallows every time.

Why This Recipe Works

This isn't just you average rice Krispie recipe with some chocolate thrown in.

  1. Graham Cracker Base: This sturdy base makes them easy to eat and provides that familiar that makes them taste like the campfire treat you love.
  2. Two Types of Chocolate: You get some in every bite with the melty chocolate layer and the classic Hershey bars on top.
  3. Broiled Marshmallows: They look gorgeous and add a subtle smokiness.

Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips

ingredients including graham crackers, mini marshmallows, rice krispies, butter, chocolate chips, and a Hershey bar.
  • Graham Crackers: Regular honey grahams work perfectly. Chocolate would also be yummy.
  • Rice Krispies: Try swapping half with Golden Grahams cereal for a fun twist. Cocoa Krispies also work.
  • Chocolate Chips: Semi-sweet prevents the dessert from being too sweet. I like Ghirardelli which melts smoothly.

Krystle's Tips: Steal My Culinary School Secrets

  1. Save your empty butter wrappers: They're great for greasing your pan.
  2. Skip the parchment paper: It can burn under the broiler. I line my pan with nonstick foil which can stand up to the high heat.
  3. Spray your spatula and hands with nonstick cooking spray: This prevents everything from sticking to you!
  4. Watch the broiler closely: 30 seconds can be the difference between golden brown perfection and the smoke alarm going off. It should only take about 1-2 minutes.

FAQs

How Should I Store Them?

Store at room temperature for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave for 10-20 seconds if desired.

Can I Use Large Marshmallows?

Yes, use the same weight (about 10 ounces).

Do I Have To Use the Broiler?

You don't but you'll miss out on the toasty marshmallow topping. You could also toast them with a kitchen torch if you have one available.

I ran out of eggs but needed something sweet and easy to make. I wish I had this recipe when I had to supply treats for school functions. Quick, easy and scrumptious. I doubled the batch. It took 2 of us to eat it in 24 hours. My husband's new favorite.
