This amazingly refreshing raspberry daiquiri cocktail has the perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors. With only 4 ingredients you can whip it at home in no time.
This drink is one of my Raspberry Cocktails!
In the mood for something sweet, fruity, and fun? Then look no further than this raspberry daiquiri recipe. I’d rather stay home, read mystery novels, and sip on these delicious raspberry daiquiris than go out to the bar these days.
They’re a little more tart than a strawberry daiquiri. If your raspberries are out of season, you can always add extra sugar to your simple syrup to taste.
Don’t forget the ice. You’ll need it to shake this concoction up so it’s cold and refreshing!
Why I Love This Recipe
- Easy: This recipe comes together without any fancy blenders or equipment.
- Common Ingredients: No running out to buy hard-to-find ingredients or liquors.
- Fresh and Fruity: They go down easy!
What Is a Daiquiri?
In its truest form, a daiquiri is made with white rum, simple syrup, and lime juice. The cocktail originated in Cuba and was popularized by Ernest Hemingway. While you may see loads of frozen daiquiris, the original version is shaken with ice and then strained into a chilled cocktail glass with a lime wedge garnish.
Over the years, they have had twists to them with different fruits, most commonly the strawberry daiquiri. Though there’s something to be said about the tart yet sweet raspberry to help you create a new version of this cocktail classic.
Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips
- Rum: Choosing a light rum is best as something dark will overshadow the light and airy feeling of this breezy cocktail. Light rums will blend in perfectly with the tartness of the berries and the sweetness of the sugar. I used Bacardi.
- Lime Juice: Use freshly squeezed juice. Just say ‘no’ to those containers of lime juice at the store. You know the ones.
- Raspberries: Raspberries are best when they are bright and plump. They should have a nice firmness to the touch. If you see any fruit with bruises or dents, avoid them. Raspberries don’t need to ripen more once you choose them at the store so find ones that are ready to go and they’ll be perfect!
How To Make a Raspberry Daiquiri
- Make simple syrup: Combine raspberries, sugar, and water. Cool until sugar is dissolved.
- Shake It Up: Combine rum, raspberry simple syrup, lime juice, and ice in a cocktail shaker.
Can You Make It Non-Alcoholic?
Why, yes you can! Simply omit the rum completely. Or if you’d like the feel of a spirit without the buzz, choose a spirit-free light rum. Clun soda or Sprite could also be used. Non-alcoholic spirits are intensely popular right now, making them a wonderful way to craft more realistic mocktails.
It Goes Great As
- An after-dinner drink
- Book Club
- Summer Cocktail Hour
- Bachelorette Party
- Its pink color makes it perfect for Christmas and Valentine’s Day too.
How Strong Is This Drink
This drink is moderate in strength. Though please feel free to add more or less rum as per your personal preference. I will say this…if you overload it with rum, you may find it less palatable.
Bartender Tips
- Frozen Cocktail: You could also make this into a frozen raspberry daiquiri cocktail. Instead of shaking it up, take the ingredients as directed and put them in your blender for a frozen concoction that will help you hang on.
- Out-of-season raspberries? You can add more sugar in as you make that simple syrup. Don’t be shy to taste it and balance it out as needed.
- Substitute Frozen Fruit: Fresh raspberries will always be better, though sometimes the seasons may work against you and make it impossible to find them in your produce section. In that case, you can absolutely grab frozen raspberries. You won’t need to thaw them though it may take a little longer to prepare the simple syrup since they’ll need to warm up first.
- Raspberries spoil quickly so buy just a day or 2 before you want to make this drink.
- No cocktail shaker? No problem! Use a mason jar instead.
- Avoid a Watered-Down Drink: Use frozen raspberries instead of ice to avoid watering down your cocktail.
- Save Your Simple Syrup: Still, have that raspberry simple syrup leftover? That’s great! That means you can make many more raspberry daiquiris to come. If you keep it in an airtight container, it will last for a month in your refrigerator.
