Melissa’s Top 10 Beauty Products

Save For Later

(Last Updated On: February 26, 2019)

When Krystle from Baking Beauty asked me to swap guest posts, I said yes straightaway. I’ve been following the 21-year-old beauty, food and book addict for about six months now and I immediately loved the idea of writing guest posts for each other. It didn’t take long for Krystle and me to decide on the topic. We would each pick our ten favorite beauty products of the moment and write about them on each other’s blog. And today I have the honor of showing you my ten favorites here on Baking Beauty. Have a look!

Let’s start with the basics and let’s look at my current skin and hair care favorites first. Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel has been my go-to daily moisturizer for over a year now. It’s the gel version of the famous Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion which makes it perfect for oily skin. Especially in summer I need a lightweight moisturizer that keeps my skin matte while still giving it enough moisture, and the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel does that like no other.

Next up is Rodial’s Bee Venom Super Serum. At 229 CHF (that’s 241 dollar, ouch!) it’s not a cheap product, but despite the crazy price tag I really think it’s an amazing serum. Most serums make my skin oily and shiny, but this incredible serum with bee venom gets absorbed super fast, doesn’t make my skin oily and gives it a deep anti-aging boost.
Third in my top ten is the Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning self-tanner. I once got a sample of this self-tanner and I’ve been hooked ever since. This self-tanning milk really is The Best. The result is incredibly natural, the color can be easily built, and the application is 100% dummy-proof. A worthy favorite if you ask me!

Fourth is Shu Uemura’s Cleansing Oil Shampoo Anti-Oil Astringent Cleanser. Quite a mouthful, huh? But it does explain exactly what this product is: a cleansing shampoo that doesn’t leave any build-up and slows down the scalp’s oil production. This shampoo is just perfect for my fine and oily hair.
Now let’s talk make-up. Catrice’s Prime and Fine Translucent Loose Powder has been a staple in my make-up bag for quite a while now. With my oily skin I really need a good mattifying powder, and this transparent budget-proof powder does a great job keeping my skin perfectly matte. Dare I say that it could easily replace MAC’s way more expensive Prep & Prime powder…? Yep, I dare!

At place six and seven are two blushes: the Smashbox Halo Longwear Blush in Warm Glow is the perfect blush for a natural look, and the NARS Exhibit A blush is great for when I want a little more color. I also often use Exhibit A as eyeshadow by the way.

My favorite lip product of the moment is the Lollipops Back to Basic lipstick in Jolie Poupée. This raspberry pink lipstick really screams summer. It’s bright, it’s fun and it’s just pretty pretty pretty!

And last but not least are my two favorite eye products. They’re definitely my favorite eye products of the moment, and they might just be all-time favorites as well. I discovered the Too Faced Shadow Insurance eyelid primer last year and I have been using it every day ever since. It provides the perfect base for my eyeshadow and allows me to create long-lasting and crease-free eye looks. When picking eyeshadow I often reach for one of these four MAC eyeshadow shades: Embark (top left), Sumptuous Olive (top right), Goldmine (bottom left) and Bronze (bottom right). These are all MAC Pro refill pans that I put in an empty e.l.f. palette. Aren’t they gorgeous?

I could have easily gone on for two more pages and turned this top 10 into a top 50, but for the sake of Krystle’s poor readers I stopped at ten 😉 I want to thank Krystle for letting me show you my ten beauty favorites of the moment here on her blog. It was an honor and it was great fun! Make sure to check out Krystle’s guest post on the Kiss & Make-up blog as well to find out what her ten beauty favorites are!
