Is there a cost to being beautiful?

Disclosure: Today’s conversation on the cost of beauty is brought to you by Halifax. All opinions are my own.

Each year the Cosmetics industry tries to entice women into spending hundreds of dollars on potions of all sorts to improve their natural beauty.

Even for a casual makeup user, the costs can really add up. I’m always shellshocked when I see my bill. I mean I only picked up a couple things, how can it be over $150?!?

Many women are using their credit cards to pay for these items. Personally I do this because I can earn rewards from my makeup addiction! At 1% (1 dollar on every 100) I usually get at least $40-$50 back a year. (You do the math!!)

Also, I like that many credit cards allow returns even when traditional retailers do not. Besides that its easier to swipe than to count out a bunch of cash!

To illustrate the cost of being beautiful let’s look at some of the most expensive makeup items on the market:

1.La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation ($195)

2.Clé de Peau Beauté Refining Pressed Powder ($175)

3.Guerlain ‘Meteorites Voyage’ Compact ($170)

4.Yves Saint Laurent ‘Teint Majeur’ Luxurious Foundation SPF 18 ($99)

5. Giorgio Armani ‘Bronze’ Palette ($88)

6.Guerlain ‘Écrin 6 Couleurs’ Eyeshadow Palette ($86)

7. La Mer ‘The Treatment Foundation’ Broad Spectrum SPF 15 ($85)

8.Dior ‘Cherie Bow’ Palette ($80)

9.stila ‘happily ever after’ beauty palette ($75)

10.Guerlain ‘Météorites Perles’ Light Diffusing Primer ($71)

The grand total:$1,124!

There is no doubt a cost associated with being beautiful!
