Brittanie’s Thyme: Organic facial care for all skin types +Giveaway

Review by Courtney: You can also find her at Mod Mommy

When I became pregnant with my son last year I noticed my skin changed way more than it did when I was pregnant with my daughter. Almost immediately after getting pregnant, my cheeks became rosy and acne appeared.

I was fortunate to have always had normal skin growing up, so the overload of hormones really gave my skin a shock. My son was born in January, and while the acne is gone, I still have a rosiness to my cheeks that I never had before.

When Brittanie’s Thyme said they’d send me some of their organic products to review, I was   thrilled. They were also kind enough to let me choose which products I wanted to sample.

They have several lines to pick from such as; Outdoor Harmony, Mindful Beauty, Facial Freedom and Full Breath.

I chose the  Mindful Beauty line to review, as its purpose is to “bring skin back to its natural balance and maintain its functionality.” It was exactly what I needed!

Since January I have been on the hunt to find a skin care line that would hopefully improve the look and feel of my face. So far I’ve tried a couple of popular brands like L’Oreal, Olay and Philosophy. They all worked OK, but nothing life changing.

The Mindful Beauty skin care system contains a facial cleanser, scrub, toner, everyday moisturizer and facial serum. I LOVE that the products are USDA organic and full of ingredients I recognize like, Aloe Vera juice, Jojoba oil, Safflower and Sunflower oil, Hemp oil, Witch Hazel, Rice bran and rice oil.

Besides the fact that the ingredients are organic, the packaging drew me in because it’s beautiful and I just love the quality of the bottles and containers.

Here’s my breakdown of each one.

Mindful Beauty Organic Citrus Facial Cleanser- With all of these products, you only need a couple of drops to get the job done. The cleanser was gel-like and gentle. It actually left my face feeling moisturized. I love that my skin didn’t feel stripped and dry like some cleansers leave you to feel. It was also able to remove my mascara and makeup.

Mindful Beauty Organic Almond Oatmeal Facial Scrub- The directions for this say to only use the facial scrub once a week. So far, I’ve used it twice and am looking forward to the next time. The scrub comes in an adorable apothecary jar and is loosely packed, much like a lightweight oatmeal. Once you add a few drops of water you have your “paste” and can start cleaning off dead skin. It worked wonderfully and left my skin feeling smooth. This particular product will last you a long time since you don’t need to use it daily.

Mindful Beauty Organic Balancing Facial Toner– I love this toner. It removed any leftover oils and overall balanced my skin. It did not dry it out at all. My skin was actually left hydrated.

Mindful Beauty Organic Everyday Moisturizer- This product was the most surprising. It’s not a typical moisturizer. I expected it to be like a lotion, but it had an aloe, coconut oil feel. Both of those happen to be the first ingredients too! I thought it was going to leave me shiny and oily, but I was wrong. My skin drank it right up and left my face glowing. My makeup glides on and I seriously haven’t liked a moisturizer this much. I love that it’s for all skin types too.

Mindful Beauty Organic Restorative Facial Serum- At first I started to use this serum in the morning, but found it was best to use at night, as the intense moisture leaves your skin looking a bit dewy. This serum is loaded with vitamins and antioxidants like vitamins A,B1, B2, B3, B6,C,D, and E, essential amino acids, proteins and carotene. Before this I had never used a facial serum, but I honestly feel this product has brought out my natural skin color and dulled the rosiness in my cheeks.

Overall, I’m really happy with this entire line and will definitely be buying more once I run out. I love how clear my skin looks, I love the color of it and most of all, I love how it feels. It stays moisturized all day.

If you’re interested in buying Brittanie’s Thyme Mindful Beauty Normal Skin System it retails for $67.00.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser Review

Disclosure: All items were purchased with my own money.

Aveeno Says:

With moisture-rich Soy extracts, this soap-free cleanser lifts away dirt, oil and makeup without over-drying for naturally radiant skin.

Baking Beauty Says:

Best for: Those looking to avoid overdrying
Avoid it if: You are expecting serious dark spot correction

The cleanser itself is white and almost sparkly.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser Review

What I loved:
1. Moisturizing: My face felt soft and smooth after using it. It never dried my skin out.
2. Big Bottle: Please ignore any skuffs as this bottle has been in my shower for a few months now. It lasts quite a long time
3. Not irritating: It didn’t cause any issues with redness or breakouts for me. Also, it didn’t burn if I accidentally got it in my eyes.
4. Removes makeup well: It only left behind a little bit of mascara which most cleansers do

What I didn’t like
1. Packaging: The pump had to be turned to one side in order for it to dispense product. This was annoying at 5 A.M. when I was just trying to wash my face.
2. Effectiveness: I didn’t see any real different in the tone/texture of my skin. It wasn’t exfoliating. Since you wash it off I think its kind of silly to claim or expect much change in your skin tone.

Have you tried any of the Positively Radiant Line? If not, what cleanser do you currently use?

Kate Somerville RetAsphere Review

Kate Somerville RetAsphere Review (2 in 1 Retinol Night Cream)

Transform your skin overnight

Best for: Those with sensitive skin and skin tone/texture issues

According to Kate this cream is: “designed to gently infuse the skin with pure Retinol and sustained hydration”.

It also claims to

1.”Relax deep wrinkles

2. Even out out texture and tone

3.Uncover a refreshed and revitalized complexion”

I’ve been using RetAshphere for around one month now. Generally retinol and I are not friends. I’ve tried several drugstore anti-aging creams that make my skin look dry/sunburned. However, I thought I’d give it another try since this is supposed to be gentle.

The cream itself is a thick,non-greasy lotion.

What I loved:

Gentle: I didn’t have any sort of irritation or reaction to this cream.

Smoothing: You know that super smooth skin you get right after using a good exfoliator?  That’s how my skin is feeling every day now.

Brightening:  Confession: I hate my skin. I tend to only look at my skin without makeup either without my glasses or from a distance. I’ve been noticing my skintone is more even, and my skin looks brighter/glowy.

Tighter/Plumper Skin

Bottle: I like that the bottle is a pump, but can still sit flat by the sink/in your medicine cabinet.

What I didn’t like:

Not quite moisturizing enough: This cream didn’t give me the soft, silkiness I’d expect from a night cream. Because of this I chose to put my regular moisturizer on top of it.

Aveeno Protect + Hydrate Review

This weekend it was finally warm enough to start walking the dog outside again. The snow melted, and it was up a “balmy” 40 degrees!

She absolutely loves her walks, and I need the exercise!

However, feeling the warm sun on my face reminded me its time to get more vigilant about sun protection. I generally avoid sunscreen for 3 reasons

1. Extra Step in my morning routine
2. They tend to be greasy
3. The smell!

Aveeno Protect + Hydrate Review
Aveeno Says:Superior broad spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection while hydrating skin to keep it soft, smooth, and naturally healthy looking. For use on face and body, this exclusive formula is fast absorbing, oil-free, noncomedogenic, and sweat and water resistant for 80 minutes”

I really like that it is both a moisturizer and sunscreen. It only takes a few extra seconds, and it absorbs quickly.

Also, less product on my skin translates to less oiliness. It didn’t make me oily at all, not even in my T-zone! In fact, it worked just as well as my Clinique Stay Matte Hydrator is keeping me matte for 8 hours.

Finally, it had a very light oatmeal scent which I much prefer to coconut.

Best for: Those with sensitive skin with a rushed morning routine

ToiletTree Face Brush Review

Let’s face it hygiene isn’t always fun. I’ll be the first to admit on nights I’m tired or not feeling well I’ll skip washing my face. More often than not, the result is a poor nights sleep and a new zit.

That’s why I’m thrilled to share the ToiletTree Professional Skin Care System with you.

It is a battery operated brush that can be used on the face, hands, and even your feet. It makes washing my face fun, and leaves my skin glowing.

It comes with al you see above: 2 face exfoliaters (1 soft for sensitive skin types & 1 medium for normal skin types), 1 body exfoliater and 1 pumice sphere.

Why I love My ToiletTree

1. Affordable: Competitors devices go from 200-300 bucks! That’s just not something i’m willing to spend on a face brush. With the money you’ll save by getting a ToiletTree you can almost afford a new designer handbag!

2. Gentle yet effective: It provides all the benefits of exfoliation without the redness/irritation I get from facial scrubs.  I’m also dealing with less acne because my makeup is getting fully removed before bed.

3. Beautiful Skin: The results are amazing! My dark spots are fading, my pores are tighter, and my skin just plain looks healthier.

4.More Effective Products: By helping to remove dead skin cells, the products you’re already using may become more effective. You’re paying for them, so why not make them do all they can do?

5. Cute: I love the pink color! It looks super cute sitting on my sink.

Overall, I really enjoyed my TolietTree, and will be using it for many years to come!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
