When it comes to Valentine’s Day, you’ll obviously want to look nice. However, I don’t think that means having to wear a dramatic smoky eye and a red lip if you’re not into that.

After all you don’t want to spend the whole night worrying about whether your eye liner is smeared or your lipstick is on your teeth. When you’re relaxed and comfortable you’ll feel even more beautiful! This is the makeup tutorial that makes me look and feel that way.

Covergirl Bombshell Makeup Tutorial

Recipe for Beauty:

What you’ll need
1. Gold Cream Eye Shadow (I used Covergirl’s Bombshell Shine Shadow in Gold Godess)
2. Taupe Powder Shadow (I used Covergirl’s Scorching Cocoa)
3. Liquid Liner (I used Covergirl’s Bombshell Intensity in Pitch Black Passion)
4. Volumizing Mascara (Covergirl Bombshell Volume)

1. Gently pat the gold cream shadow on your lid. I love that this helps prevent other shadows from creasing so no primer is needed.. Dap a little extra in your inner corners to highlight.

2. Sweep taupe shadow over the top and blend up into the crease.

3. The Covergirl liner is perfect because the marker like tip is super tiny. It’s easy to get a precise line even with a shaky hand like mine.Draw a small line extending out from your lower lash line. Connect the end of it to your upper lash line. Color it in.

4. Line the rest of your upper lash line.

5. Swipe on 2 coats of side #1’s mascara. Set with one coat of side 2. I love layering mascaras but always worry that they won’t work together or that I’m being wasteful. 2 Mascaras in one tube solves all of that!

Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Review

Disclosure: The Tarte Lights Camera Lashes used in this review was purchased with my own money as part of the Sephora Lash Stash.

I think that my Chanel Mascara has caused to me hold other high end mascaras to  very high standards.

Keep reading to see if Tarte’s lives up to my expectations.

Tarte says:”Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes! 4-in-1 Mascara could be considered a push-up bra for your lashes—a 4-in-1 (lengthening, curling, volumizing, and conditioning) dermatologist- and clinically-proven to increase the appearance of lash volume by 424% after applying giving dramatic, thick and sexy lashes.”

Baking Beauty says: This mascara gave average volume/length. However, its lasting powder leaves much to be desired.

Recipe for beauty:Apply 2 coats while wiggling the wand. Have a QTip handy to wipe away excess.

Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Review

It added some volume/length but nothing extraordinary. I also do not think it helped  curl my lashes at all. It didn’t hold curl very well either.

Only one shade is available Rich black. No complaints here.

The mascara is a nice texture. However, it wetness makes it prone to getting on the lashline/brownbone when blinking.

Ease of use:5/5

Lasting Power:3/5

So you get mascara on your eye lid. No biggie clean it up. But when it comes back 4-6 hours later we have a problem. I don’t want to have to worry about walking around with mascara smudged on my eyelid (Embarrassing!!)

This mascara is okay for everyday use but not something I’d repurchase.

Givenchy Phenomen’ Eyes Mascara Review

Disclosure: The Givenchy Phenomen’ Eyes Mascara used in this review was purchased with my own money.

Givenchy says:Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes Mascara perfectly curls and separates lashes. It has a high-tech, patented round sphere at the tip of the precision wand that reaches every lash and adapts to all eye shapes.

Baking Beauty says: This Givenchy mascara reminds me of why I usually avoid high mascaras. It didn’t give me much length or volume.

Givenchy Phenomen’ Eyes Mascara Review

Effectiveness: 2/5

No complaints here as it’s a true jet black.

This mascara is very wet. Blinking, sneezing, ect within a couple minutes of application will result in it getting all over your eye area.

Ease of use:1/5

The wand looks cool, but its a pain to use. Applying mascara that takes 3x as long might be okay if my lashes looked 3x better, but they don’t.

Lasting Power:4/5

It lasted all day on me with slight flaking.

Available: This product is exclusive to Sephora

Avon Mega Effects Mascara Review + Photos

Disclosure: The Avon Mega Effects used in this review was provided to me for editorial consideration. All opinions are my own.

When it comes to mascara I think I’ve seen it all. After all what else can do besides lengthen, volumize, and give curl?

Avon’s new Mega Effects mascara brings a completely unique brush, and brand new packaging.

Let’s see what Avon has to say about their newest invention.

Avon says:This breakthrough mascara provides 24-hour volume, leaving lashes darker, denser and more dramatic. Get ready for a corner to corner lash transformation with our first ever Wonderbrush. The Wonderbrush bends and adjusts to multiple angles capturing every lash, top to bottom.

Baking Beauty says: Avon’s new wonderbrush delivers a truly unique experience. However, it still needs a bit of tweaking

Avon Mega Effects Mascara Review

The mascara gives good volume, and average length. My favorite part was how close you can get to your lash line. It truly looks like you’re wearing eyeliner.

The mascara comes in Black and Brown-Black. I used the shade black and it was a true jet black.

The texture of this mascara is very wet. This makes it easy to work with and gives you plenty of time to play with lashes before they dry. However, it also results in getting mascara all over your eye lid if you accidentally blink.

Ease of use:3/5

When it comes to eye liner or nail polish I’m the first to admit I suck at application! However, I’ve never had much problem applying mascara until now.

While the brush is AMAZING at getting the base of lashes(looks like faux eyeliner!) and the outer corners it is also easy to get it all over yourself.

This results in timely meticulous cleanup.

Lasting Power:5/5

It wore for over 10 hours on me with no fallout, smudging et. It was also easily removed with soap and water.

The packaging is unique for sure. It comes with its own mini instruction book. My only complaint is that when you wiggle the wand out it holds a ton of extra product that can get on your eye lid and/or cause clumps.

This mascara was fun to use, and it delivers nice lashes. However, the brush + wet formula leads to too much clean up for me. Its not something I’d reach for on my average busy morning.

Overall Avon Megaeffects Mascara is

Best for those: Who stink at doing eyeliner, but love the effect.

Avoid it if: You hate cleaning up after putting mascara on

Cost: $10

Available: Via your favorite Avon Rep or online

Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara In Noir Midnight Review

Disclaimer: The Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara used in this review was provided for consideration. All thoughts/opinions are my own.

Lancome Says:Showstopping mascara that provides weightless volume, luscious length and 24-hour wearability. Define and lengthen your lashes with a dual-sided brush that perfectly coats lashes and maximizes the performance of the long-wearing, waterproof formula.

Baking Beauty says: Lancome’s Hypnose Star Mascara delivers great volume, and a fair amount of length. However, it is very difficult to remove.

Best for: Those with watery eyes, brides, ect.

Avoid it (Or opt for the original Hypnose Star): If you do’t really need waterproof mascara

Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara In Noir Midnight Review

What I loved:

1. The Volume: Hypnose star delivers amazing volume. I wear glasses on a daily basis and this is one of those mascaras that doesn’t seem to disappear behind them.

2.The Lasting power: This mascara did not budge despite being outside, sweating, and working out. It also never got smudgy or flaky despite wearing it for over 12 hours.

3. The Packaging: Lancome Hypnose Star has the prettiest packaging on the market right now. So glittery and sparkly! All mascara tubes should look like this!

What I didn’t like:
1. The texture: From the first day I got it, this mascara was very dry. This causes it to clump up after more than one coat, and sometimes even with just one coat. Considering mascaras dry out as they get older, I fear this will become unusable too quickly!

2.Difficult to remove: Unfortunately, sometimes the longest wearing mascaras are also the hardest to get off.

Makeup wipes did not remove any of this product, and my Clinique Eye makeup remover only got about half. I felt like I was losing eyelashes trying to get this off.

Overall, its up to you. What matters more long wear or removal?

I think I’d tend to gravitate towards the original Hypnose Star mascara, but if you’re in the pool most days this is worth looking into.

Cost: $28

Where to buy: Lancome Counters(Macy’s Nordstrom, ect)

Le Volume De Chanel Mascara Review

Disclaimer: The Le Volume De Chanel Mascara used in this review was received as a gift with purchase.

Every mascara these days seems to claim that it contains false lashes in a tube. Le Volume De Chanel is the closest I’ve ever found.

Le Volume De Chanel Mascara Review

Chanel Says:The high-precision mascara achieves instant volume and intensely lush color in a single stroke.

Baking Beauty Says: Le Volume does it all, and delivers full, fluttery lashes.

What I loved:

1. Pigmentation: My shade Noir is a rich, intense black. It really makes lashes Pop!

2. Texture: The formula is wet enough that it is easy to apply, but not wet enough that it gets everywhere when you blink.

3. Lasting Power: It held the curl amazingly and never flaked or smudged.

4. Ease of use: Le Volume is pretty much a one coat mascara. Anything more and it looks too clumpy. You don’t have to wait and apply multiple coats. Just swipe and go!

What I didn’t care for:

1. It does clump up if you want to apply more than 1 coat. (Although this isn’t really necessary)

2. The price! Although if it lasts 3 months that’s only roughly $10 bucks a month.

Overall Le Volume De Chanel is

Best for: Those looking for curl, volume, and length in one tube.

Avoid it if: You like applying more than one coat.

Cost: $30
