When it comes to Valentine’s Day, you’ll obviously want to look nice. However, I don’t think that means having to wear a dramatic smoky eye and a red lip if you’re not into that.

After all you don’t want to spend the whole night worrying about whether your eye liner is smeared or your lipstick is on your teeth. When you’re relaxed and comfortable you’ll feel even more beautiful! This is the makeup tutorial that makes me look and feel that way.

Covergirl Bombshell Makeup Tutorial

Recipe for Beauty:

What you’ll need
1. Gold Cream Eye Shadow (I used Covergirl’s Bombshell Shine Shadow in Gold Godess)
2. Taupe Powder Shadow (I used Covergirl’s Scorching Cocoa)
3. Liquid Liner (I used Covergirl’s Bombshell Intensity in Pitch Black Passion)
4. Volumizing Mascara (Covergirl Bombshell Volume)

Tutorial:
1. Gently pat the gold cream shadow on your lid. I love that this helps prevent other shadows from creasing so no primer is needed.. Dap a little extra in your inner corners to highlight.

2. Sweep taupe shadow over the top and blend up into the crease.

3. The Covergirl liner is perfect because the marker like tip is super tiny. It’s easy to get a precise line even with a shaky hand like mine.Draw a small line extending out from your lower lash line. Connect the end of it to your upper lash line. Color it in.

4. Line the rest of your upper lash line.

5. Swipe on 2 coats of side #1’s mascara. Set with one coat of side 2. I love layering mascaras but always worry that they won’t work together or that I’m being wasteful. 2 Mascaras in one tube solves all of that!

I’ve been searing for my HG eye liner as long as I’ve been wearing makeup. I tend to gravitate toward higher end brands, but I’ve been looking in all the wrong places. Lately the Avon Gel Liner knocked my socks off. However I like these ones by Jane Cosmetics even better! Keep reading to see why.

Jane Cosmetics says:However you define your eyes, this long lasting, water-resistant, and highly pigmented creamy liner makes precision application, blending and diffusing a breeze.

Baking Beauty says: These apply like butter and wear well.

Effectiveness:4.5/5

SONY DSC

Pigmentation:5/5

Gold is sparkly goldenrod and Midnight Blue is a matte navy.

Both are pigmented with just one swipe. That means no tracing over your lash line more than once.

Texture:5/5

They are very soft, and buttery. There is no tugging or friction when applying.

Ease of use:5/5

Lasting Power:4/5

Let me preface this section by saying most products start to migrate off my water line within an hour. This lasted a solid 4-5 hours before that migration even STARTED! I also got 8 hour wear on upper lash line. Super impressed these are waterline worthy!

Packaging:4/5

Value:5/5

These are nicely pigmented, and long wearing. Such a great deal for 6 bucks! I’m going to be picking up a black and brown shade asap!

Jane Cosmetics Says:Enhance the eye and create subtle or dramatic lines with these long-wearing, water-resistant liquid eye liners in a variety of shades and finishes.

Baking Beauty says: These liners were long lasting, but I wasn’t sold on the Pearl Shades.

Pigmentation:4/5

Navy is a matte blue, while Metallic Platinum was a clear silver. Navy was nicely pigmented with one swipe. However, I didn’t get the platinum shade at all. It’s hard to define your eyes with uneven sheer glitter.

Texture:4/5

They dried quickly and didn’t transfer to my eye lid.

Ease of Use:4/5

Lasting Power: 5/5

They wore all day on my upper lash line (10-11 hours).

Packaging:4/5

It comes with a small brush type applicator. It wasn’t as easy to use as a felt tip, but it was still nice and controlled.

Value:5/5

These liquid liners are pretty easy to use and last all day.

Cost:$8.00

Avon Supershock Gel Eye Liner Pencil Review

I try to go into reviews with an open mind, but sometimes it’s hard. To be honest I did not have high hopes for this eye liner, because I have low expectations for all eye liners!

Nothing lasts beyond a few hours on my water line.

However, I was SO excited to try this pencil. When I swatched it on my hand, and then tried to wash it off it did NOT budge.

I held it under running water, and rubbed but it did not move.

Did this translate on my eye balls? Keep reading to find out.

Avon says:Intense gel eye liner with the ease of a pencil. Formulated with 20% liquid gel to smoothly create a flawless line every time.

Baking Beauty says: This glides across the lids, and lasts a decent amount of time.

Effectiveness:4.5/5

Pigmentation: 5/5

My shade Blackout was a true jet black.

Texture:5/5

The texture of this is phenomenal! It effortlessly glides across the eye with barely any pressure.

Ease of use:5/5

Lasting Power:4/5

This wore for around 3-4 hours on my water line and all day on my upper lash line. If you have more normal eyes, you’ll probably get even better wear.

What I liked best was it never migrated onto my lower lid/inner corner. It just gradually faded away.

Hmmm I wonder what this new Laura Mercier Lipstick looks like. 😮 Oh Wait

It’s an eyeliner!

This fall brands are really stepping up with unique products/packaging. Laura Mericer is no exception with their new Limited Edition Kohl Liner.

Laura Mercier says:Kohl Liner Extreme is a creamy, highly-pigmented eye liner that glides on smoothly to add depth and definition to the eyes.

Baking Beauty says: This Kohl liner reminds me a lot of the Givenchy Kajal liner. It is buttery smooth, but didn’t last very long on me.

Pigmentation:5/5

The liner comes in one shade (Black). It it a true jet black.

Texture:5/5

The texture of this product is phenomenal. It is so smooth and buttery. It’s a pleasure to glide on.

Ease of use:5/5

This literally glides across the lid with almost no effort. Also, because its so pigmented there’s no need to go back over the same area.

Lasting Power:2/5

Sadly, because of its amazing texture this liner barely lasted 2 hours on me. It tended to migrate and smudge on my waterline. However, it did wear pretty well on the upper lash line as long as I didn’t rub my eyes.
